Thandavam Pictures was born from belief, passion, and an unwavering commitment to cinema.
 
The journey began when Pradeep Karengula, the director of Promise, completed the screenplay for his film but struggled to find producers willing to back a story that demanded conviction rather than conventional formulas.
Instead of compromising on his vision, Pradeep continued to pursue the project.
He eventually shared the story with Srilekha Somishetti. What started as a simple narration turned into a defining moment.

Deeply impressed by the writing, content, emotional depth, and cinematic potential of the story, Srilekha decided to take a bold step rather than simply support the film, she decided to produce it herself.

 
Together with Marati Pictures as a partner, she immediately established Thandavam Pictures, creating a production house built around one fundamental belief:
 
Great cinema does not always need a great budget. It needs great conviction.

 
When Promise was still on paper, Pradeep Karengula initially estimated a production budget of ₹1 crore. But as production progressed, he took complete responsibility for multiple aspects of the filmmaking process and relentlessly optimized every resource available to him.

Through careful planning, creative problem-solving, and uncompromising execution, the film was ultimately completed for approximately ₹82 lakh.

But the ambition of Promise was never limited by its budget.

What makes the journey remarkable is how a film made on an extremely modest budget was shaped to deliver a much larger cinematic experience. The team focused its resources where they mattered most storytelling, performances, technical execution, and post-production quality and brought experienced and accomplished talent into the process to elevate the final product.

Promise became more than a film.

It became the first statement of what Thandavam Pictures stands for: discovering powerful stories, empowering filmmakers, challenging conventional production models, and creating ambitious cinema regardless of the size of the budget.
